If no network connection is available I get the
message "there was no domain to verify your password"
or "domain could not verify your password". This only
happens on 5 or six of the 100 or so windows 98 machines
in my network. These machines all have a place where
you "must" specify a domain or you cannot log on. When
you try to click on cancel the same message appears. If
you try to logon without a domain specified then a message
appears that says "you must specify a domain to log on to
the network. One of these machines is a laptop and this
makes it completely useless as a portable machine as it
cannot be used without being connected to the network.
The rest are useless if the network is down for any
reason. I have been told that this is not the default for
windows 98 se and that I had to do something to cause
this, but I have done nothing different on these than on
the others. Could it be the NIC? Please help!
Thanks
