Thanks in advance for any help with this problem.
Windows 98 SE computer. Printers nor scanners work on
either LPT1 nor LPT2. The problem exists on two computers
formally linked via lan cards in a at-home, peer-to-peer
network.
I think the problem has to do with this knowledge base
article:
246971 - Cannot Print to Printer on LPT1 When Mapped or
Captured to a Network Shared Printer
However, now that the computers are not connected together
the fix described in the article doesn't seem to work (or
even apply, it seems).
Verified:
Bios settings;
Driver under device tab says LPT1 and 2 working properly
with no conflicts;
Printer and scanner both operational on other computers.
Tried:
Removed port drivers and restarted so that win 98 would
detect new hardware and re-install the port drivers;
Ran system file check--all files ok;
I think the ports may have gotten re-mapped somehow when
the computers were set up for PTP networking but I don't
know how to un(?)map (or is that re-map?) so that they
will work again like originally.
Any suggestions?
