Can't surf the net?

Just installed a Linksys BEFW11S4 Ver. 4 router and a WPC11 Ver. 4 Notebook
Adapter into my lap top with some strange results. I can ping any site. I
can communicate with my News and E-mail servers, but both Explorer 6 and
Netscape 7.1 can not get to any sites. The appear to connect but are so slow
they just sit there blank.

There is no proxy, and same security settings as when I connect using the
Ethernet port (and everything works fine).

I am new to having so many network devices installed, is there something I
should be doing to disable the unused (temporarily not connected) devices?
Every time I let Windows XP play with the setups it adds a bridge?

John
