Computer Dell Latitude XPi
OS Millennium
Wireless network PCMCIA card is MN-520

In <Control Panel> <Network> <TCP><Properties><Gateway>

I've set the gateway to be 192.168.1.1 as required by the Linksys Router

When I run WINIPCFG the "Default Gateway" box is empty and of course there
is not network connection.

When I switch to a hard wire network card to the same Linksys router the
network connects.

Any help will be appreciated!

when you run "winipcfg" it should default to the PPP adapter. If you
want the information on the MN-520 you will need to select it from the
list of adapters.

Try removing all other network protocols form this computer and just use
TCP/IP

I use a linksys router with Win Me I do not put anything in the network card
for the gateway just make sure you tick Obtain an IP address automatically
and Obtain an DNS address automatically this works for me the only time you
would put the gateway in is if you were using a static ip are you trying
this?

I have another computer alongside this one with a Linksys wireless net work
adapter.
When I look at WINIPCFG on this is has a default gateway address of
192.168.1.1

This address is the address that the computer must find to see the Linksys
router

I have a wired adapter that properly connects and it also shows a default
gateway of 192.168.1.1

The Microsoft DN-520 wireless adapter does not do that properly even though
I enter the default gateway address.

Thanks again!

Yes when I do a winipcfg on my computer I get a gateway address of
192.168.1.1
But I do not enter that address in the net work card configuration the
router puts it there along with the IP addess and subnet mask and the DNS
severs address
from your ISP

It works correctly EXCEPT on the Microsoft MN-520 wireless PCMCIA adapter.
That's the help I need.

Thanks for the reply!

I found the cause of the problem!

I thought the "Current Service Set Identifier" CSSID was my network's
name....

However, using the Linksys router the CSSID is "linksys"

Thanks for the response!
