Cant Print Over the Network

Hello,

I am running a small Ethernet/Wireless LAN and I am using CUPS to
print over the network. All of the computers are running Fedora Core 3.
The computers on the network can see the printer over the network but
the print jobs remain stuck locally on the various machines. The
computers are trying to print to an Epson Stylus C80 printer attached to
a Dell Dimension XPS t600r. This machine has a fixed IP address but the
other machines are using DHCP. I can print locally from this computer
(the Dell Dimension) but the other computers cannot print from the
network. Previously, I had Mandrake Linux 10.0 installed on the Dell
and I had no problems printing over the network from the other
computers. Has anyone had this problem? Should I disable any
firewalls? I didn't have to do this when I had Mandrake installed. Any
help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Check traffic on port 631
# tetherreal port 631

If you're getting traffic, then something else may be at play. Obviously,
you need port 631 to be open, ideally uni-directional. Maybe try flushing
firewalls to start with and see if that helps.
#iptables -F

DHCP shouldn't be the issue, provided the server is either static, or
resolvable from the networked machines.

Cheers

Tim
