Please help a newbie finding his way!!! last month I did not have a net
work!!!! & I have never seen a server before, only windows 95,98,2000,XP etc

HP 6100 All-in-One + Epson Stylus Photo attached to the Windows 2003 Server
on the USB ports,
Print Server is Running & re-starting the "print spooling" has not made a
difference
Windows 2003 Server & 6 XP Pros, all are able to print except one, which was
able to print before.
I didn't think it would be a problem because this PC was due to be
re-installed today! However after installing a brand new copy of XP Pro SP 2
the problem remains. I have uninstalled the printer from the server &
reinstalled it again, the hp6100 disappears (from the office machine) when
un-installed & reappears when re-installed (set as default) yet I am unable
to print from the Office PC.. also it seams that I can not send E-Mails that
have attachments, & connections to other members of the Domain are jerky @
my network places

Permissions are unchanged & the user of the office machine is a member of
the domain users & admin etc
the printers are in published in the Active Directory

I can send a test e-mail from Outlook & it pops back in to the inbox almost
straight away but when I send an attachment, say a PDF or a jpg etc my mail
just sits in the out box & dose not send?

How'd you get Windows 2003 drivers for the HP? I didn't think HP supported
server OSes for their multifunction products.

What happens? Error message?

Don't do that if only one of several workstations is having a problem - it
clearly isn't a problem on the server.

That sounds like network problems. Hub/switch/cabling issues? Is this
limited to the one workstation? Have you checked for event log errors on the
workstation?

What server are you using for e-mail? And again, is this for one computer,
or for all of them?

There are no error messages the print just sits in the queue!

Each PC has it's own Office with outlook, mail server is off site, The
windows server is a .local domain & is mostly just file serving.. as far as
the print drivers I have just used the disc that came with the printer.

I suppose I should explain that I had a partner who set up the networks, but
he has decided to go & save the wild life in Africa? so I'm having a bit of
a crash cause in how to run a server!!

I will check the service logs on the PC later & get back to you

Thank you

Thnk you

You put me on the right track, it turnd out to be the Hub, though I tried
cables & NIS'S first. Changing the hub (lucky I had a spare) sorted out the
printing & the e-mail.

Thank you again Lanwench
