Can't print from laptop.

I can share files and internet access betwen laptop and desktop, but can't
print from laptop. I installed printer driver on laptop to no avail and
both computers have same printer port assigned. Printer is connected to
desktop via parallel cable. I have desktop Dell Dimension 4550, Compaq 2580
notebook (both running Windows Home XP), and Wireless 802.11b Belkin router
(F5D6321-4). Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Did you assign the printer to LPT1 on your laptop as well? Because it
should be the server computer's virtual port not LPT1.

1. On the desktop machine, set the printer as "shared".
2. On the laptop, browse via network to desktop, then doubleclick the
printer. XP will ask if you want to install that printer and you
answer yes.

If that doesn't do it for you, come back, as with most things in the
computer world, there is more than one way to do this.
