Can't map to Network Drive \\server\shared on NT server

Even though all windows 98 OS users are able to logon
Windows NT 4.0 server successfully they still can't map to
network drive on the NT server. Mostly with users VPN
server from home. Any attempt will register network:
Error: Incorrect password
Not even with admin password is still say incorrect
password. Why and what am I doing wrong. Is it because
they're not part of the domain if so why only with 98 OS?

it looks as tho they have autheticated but actually they
have not been authenticated. the user name and password
do not match the nt server. second try adding protocol
netbui to network connection on win98se machine.
