Dear All,

(Originally posted on microsoft.public.windows.server.general, but thought
it might be more suitable here)

Got a weird on here, don't how to get around it.... the Subject line is
technically true, but not totally...

I've got a laptop that is connecting wirelessly to a domain, usual practice,
turn the latop on, wait a second or two for the wireless card to spring to
life, and then log on...

For some reason recently, it has been unable to log on, because windows
isn't remember the I.P address (192.168.1.x) which has been manually set, so
I get the error message about the profile will not be able to be stored...

So, it boots up, I access the networking section, repair the connection, get
my IP back and I'm fine, but when logging off, it doesn't save the settings,
so next reboot I'm getting it again...

Anyway around this? is there a setting or command in the machine I can tell
it to take the settings and store/update them to the profile, so when I next
boot
up it is sorted?

Regards
Paul.

There is no command for this because it is not a "feature" in the first
place that you can turn on or off. It does it because it is just screwed
up. Last time I had a machine act like that I had to flatten it and reload
it from scratch,...it was fine after that. It took much less time to reload
it than it would to find out how to fix it. In my case is was a Desktop
machine and was not wireless. It would even act like that sometimes while
it was in use,...then do a repair on the connection and it would work ok for
a while,...then do it again in a couple days.
