Can't locate module ipt_recent

Hallo NG,

i have a little problem with iptables and it's module ipt_recent.

I have a redhat 8 system with 2.4.20-28.8smp kernel.

I installed the kernel-sources and compiled iptables 1.3.1 on this
system.
Iptables is running fine, but with "modprobe ipt_recent" it says
"Can't locate module ipt_recent.

I found out that there is no ipt_recent.o in /lib/modules/.... .

Questions:
Do the ipt_recent module run with this kernel?
How can I get/make this module?

I googled the last 2 days but I found no no answer.
Perhaps someone knows this Problem and give me some hints.

At one time, you had to download/compile the patch-o-matic stuff to get
ipt_recent. Visit the iptables website and read the docs.

I downloaded the latest but i can't find ipt_recent in it, and the
installation guide doesn't work. I don't know why but when I try "make
patch-o-matic" or "make pending patches" (i don't know if it is the
right typing) I got a message "nothing to do for make ..."

Also I get no connect to the netfilter cvs to get the latest
patch-o-matic files, i downloaded them as tarball.

Any other hints or a solution of my patch-o-matic prob?
