I'm quoting from your post at the link above:

This is not normal and should be addressed. Take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA) or if the laptop is still under warranty, get a new hard
drive from Toshiba. You need to get whatever is causing this
"corruption" (your word) fixed and the proper size of the hard drive
seen. It could also be the memory, which should be tested.
You cannot get the SP2 WLAN upgrade without SP2.
