Hi. I have five PCs running Win98 SE in a stand alone workgroup connected via a five port switch. Two PCs are on the network and can connect to each other. Three can not connect to any other PC, can't even ping other PCs by IP address. All have static addresses. The three that can't connect are older Compaq Deskpros, the two that can connect are generic PCs
Here is what I have done for troubleshooting with no success
* Checked cabling with a teste
* switched cabling with new cable
* installed new drivers for NIC
* replaced NIC with a new NI
* removed and re-installed networking in Win9
* Put a PC that can connect at the station of a PC that can connec

This network is at a non profit organization and were donated by a local compan
I suspect the fact that the problem PCs are Compaqs has something to do with it...
I am really at a loss on this one....
Any ideas
Thank

See if the computers that can't connect to the network are running any
type of firewall program that blocks network access. Make sure that
all computers have IP addresses in the same subnet.
