Can't get past log in page

My daughter is having a problem logging on to the wireless network in the
hostel she is staying in for the summer. She had no problem logging on at
collage nor to our wireless network when she comes home.
She gets past the web page with her user name and password onto the
providers home page but can't get beyond that.
I'm not to good with networks and all I could offer was to try another DNS
server (Open DNS?)

I've tried Googling the problem but am probably using the wrong terms.
Can someone please point us to a good trouble shooting guide that may assist
with this problem?

TIA
Slatts

I'd look for a DNS or MTU issue. Unfortunately, you'll have to read the pages,
and find a way to get the content to her.

Exactly what is she seeing when she "can't get beyond that"?

Hi
It might be security mismatch with the network.
I would check with the provider to make sure what security means they are
using beyond the logon screen.

Thanks for those - working my way through.
She gets the providers login web page OK. Then inputs her username and
password, that takes her to the providers Home Page. (Could that be on the
local server?). After that she can't get to any other web page.
She can Ping all the way up to the providers page but nothing after that,
using both IP name and number.

Also note - She has flushed the DNS and tried Open DNS rather than "obtain
automatically"
She has also reset(?) the Winsock.
-------------------------------------------------
Up date: We may be lucky as it seems others have had problems too and the
providers IT man has turned up - I live in hope :-)

When the problem is common to multiple computers, the solution becomes more
likely. Keep us posted, if you wish.

Seems there was more to the problem than we thought - IT man was unable to
solve problem (The other machines only had a signal strength problem)
....And now daughter cannot even get to login page and PC keeps crashing.
Luckily she has backed up - Don't you just love it when your kids listen to
your advice :-)
So we will use this as a good excuse to reinstall windows.

Last post as we're off to Glastonbury tomorrow :-)

Thanks for help.
