Can't get my DLink DWL 650+ wireless NW card to work with my Toshiba Tecra 8000

Hello,

I install the driver and restart but my computer doesn't even
recognize that the card is there. I verified that the cardslot is 32
bit so I don't think that is the problem. I went to the Dlink website
and they recommended that I update my BIOS. How do I figure out what
version of BIOS I have? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

What is the vintage of your computer? Which version of Windows do you have?
Does your computer usually recognise cards? You may find that if you restart
in Dos mode and run tsetup.exe the entry for pccards offers you a choice
between cardbus and something else. I never know what the choice means but
this is something you could change to see if it helps. Have you run the
"add new hardware wizard"? Have you ascertained that the card is not faulty
by trying it on another computer? Have you gone into Device Manager to see
if there are any yellow question marks next to any of the drivers?

In Windows Control Panel there might be a Toshiba Hardware Setup icon which
will reveal which version of the BIOS you have. Presumably you are familiar
with the Toshiba website which offers reasonably easy links to BIOS upgrades
free of charge and without the need to register.
