Hi

I have a D-Link DFE-690TXD card on my laptop
and I cannot get it to work w/ SuSE linux 7.1.

The following are relevant lines from
/etc/pcmcia/config file..

.....
device "pcnet_cs"
class "network" module "net/8390", "pcnet_cs"
....

....
card "D-Link DFE-690TXD CardBus PC Card"
manfid 0x0149, 0x0000
bind "pcnet_cs"
....

'boot.log' has the following lines..

cardmgr[207]: starting, version is 3.1.22
PCMCIA: cardmanager is running
cardmgr[207]: watching 2 sockets
cardmgr[207]: initializing socket 1
cardmgr[207]: socket 1: D-Link DFE-690TXD CardBus PC Card
cardmgr[207]: executing: 'modprobe 8390'
cardmgr[207]: + Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than
/lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/modules.dep
cardmgr[207]: executing: 'modprobe pcnet_cs'
cardmgr[207]: + Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than
/lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/modules.dep
cardmgr[207]: get dev info on socket 1 failed: No such
device
ifconfig eth0 'returns
eth0:error fetching interface informationevice not found.

'cardctl ident' returns..

Socket 0:
no product info available
Socket 1:
product info: "D-Link", "DFE-690TXD", "PC Card"
manfid: 0x0149, 0x0000
function: 6 (network)
PCI id: 0x1186, 0x1340

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

I have just had the same problem. On the CD which ships with your
card, there is a directory called linux. There is a device-driver for
your card which you just have to compile and install. Information for
how to do this is also given.

good luck
