Can't get browser to use LAN connection

I have installed a wireless network for a friend. Their
ME system (and only the ME system) does not recognize the
LLAN connection. I have verified with winipcfg that the
system has a valid ip address assigned by the router. I
can see the system on the router DHCP list. I can release
and renew the IP address and can even PING other systems
attached to the router............ Has anyone seen this
problem before? Any advice/patches wuold be appreciated.
