can't fwd port 22 on my wrt55ag

windows2 -> (WAN x.x.x.y)

wrt55ag -> (LAN)192.168.0.1 / (WAN)x.x.x.x
linux1 -> 192.168.0.2 running sshd
linux2 -> 192.168.0.3

The wrt55ag is set to port forward tcp and udp port 22 to 192.168.0.2.
linux2 can ssh to linux1. windows2 cannot ssh to linux1 at x.x.x.x:22.
The error reported by putty is "network error: connection timed out".
Windows1 _can_ reach the remote router administration page(which i
enabled) at x.x.x.x:3423. I have rebooted the router, flashed the
firmware, banged my head against hard objects and still...no dice.
