Can't enter IP addresses

I need to change from DHCP to static IPs. When I attempt
to enter the IP address (the entry line is white), the
cursur will not operate - when I type a number, I hear a
chime. When I type a letter - no sound.

New one on me -

Any help????

Believe it or not, this can be caused by a problem with your display adapter
(video card or video chipset) drivers. Check for updated drivers and
install them according to the manufacturer's directions.

may sound silly ,but, numlock not turned on ?
