Can't do network backup to XP machine?

We have 2 new Vista laptops linked to an XP Media Center desktop hub with
wireless n. Would like to do Vista laptop backups to the XP machine or a
spare hard drive attached to the XP machine, but apparently XP does not
support backups to network shares is there any way around this or is
upgrading the desktop to Vista the only solution?
