cant connect to windows xp box

I am new to 2003 server. I am having a problem getting my xp professional to
connect to my domain on 2003 server. I hope this isnt a dumb question.

Can you provide some more information?
* is this Windows XP already a member of Windows 2003 domain?
* did you enter DNS server IP of your active directory server under
preferred DNS in TCP/IP properties?
* what is the exact error that you get when you try to connect to your AD
* can other clients connect to AD
