can't connect ubuntu wifi Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00

hi,

i got a laptop with ubuntu installed with kernel 2.6.10
i got edimax wireless usb stick with zd1211 chipset
i install the driver for it from zd1211.ath.cx and the driver shows in
lsmod.
i configured it using iwconfig and brought it up using ifconfig wlan0
up.

the interface it showing as up but the "Access Point" show
00:00:00:00:00:00
and ofcourse i cannot connect and cannot obtain an ip from my dhcp
router.

(ofcourse the usb is working from the same computer from the same usb
port when booting windows)

help!!!!
any ideas????

use whatever high-level interface your distribution includes; e.g.,
under Gnome, select the menu System -> Administration -> Network .
