My apologies if this is considered spamming, but Im reached the end of
any available solutions..

Here is the issue.
ADSL modem. Out to 3Com hub. From hub I have a Mac and a Win 98 box
connected via Ethernet cable. Both connect and can up and download from
the Net. No issues there. I also have Zone Alarm on the PC. Even with
Zone Alarm completely shut down though, I CANT ACCESS either machine
from the other via FTP or WWW!!!

What I absolutely CANT do is connect via FTP or WWW with or from the Mac
to the PC or vice versa.
To my knowledge (admittedly limited) the mac is getting its IP from my
ISP no problem. (I assume this since the mac can connect even when the
PC isn't turned on.) Strangely, the macs IP begins with a 142 prefix
though, while the PC begins with a 207.

So.. Heres the issue. I simply want to move files back and forth via FTP
or HTTP from the mac or the PC. I'm aware of the mac to PC file naming
etc, etc etc... but I can handle that and frankly it has nothing to do
with not being able to see the other machine! I can successfully ping
the mac from the PC, but I cant "open" a web page on it! I can
successfully port scan the mac from the PC but I cant access it via FTP!

I'm truly stumped...

THIS ... DOESN'T WORK..
http://www.atpm.com/network/files/ftp.htm

its not only poorly written, it doesn't work!

Im running win98 (I know I know... but why would that prevent me from
accessing a machine with an open ftp port on the Internet?) and Mac OS
9.2.2....

PLEASE... I have no idea why this doesn't work and would be very
greatful for any guidance, assistance or url's to help me out....

Thanks in Advance...

What ftp server are you running? What www server are you using (e.g.
Apache)?

After being targeted with gigabytes of trash by the
"SWEN" worm, I have concluded we must conceal our
e-mail address. Our true address is the mirror image
of what you see before the "@" symbol. It's a shame
such steps are necessary.

I got a similar setup but I use an ADSL broadband router to get static
ip-addresses in my network. Then I can easily connect to a shared directory
on the PC using the username and password used on the PC. (I got an Win2000
box and an iMac OSX 10.2.6) I haven't tried to ftp so I don't know anything
about that. It's much easier just moving the files with the pointer. I also
use ZoneAlarm so I have learned to disable it when trying new connections.
Then when I know that it works I can allow it in ZoneAlarm.

Im running a simply Netpresenz from the Mac for both FTP and or WWW.
I've even tried running a Hotline server from the Mac and the PC. None
of these work...
Thanks
