Hi - I've extended my wired network by adding a wirelss section using a
Linksys WAP54G WAP and a Linksys WPC54G wireless notebook adapter in a
notebook running W2K Pro SP 4.
Everything is OK if I log onto the notebook using the admin. account.
However, if I log on using my normal working account (no admin privs ) I'm
unable to connect to the notebook adapter, so can't access the network,
internet etc. If I navigate to "Network and Dial Up Connection" when logged
onto the working account I can see the adapter but right clicking Properties
generates a pop-up that tells me I can't access the controls because I don't
have the necessary access rights.
Is this the problem - access rights ? I installed the notebook software
when logged on as Admin. When logged on as Admin I have given the group my
working account belongs to full control of the "Linksys" installation folder
under C:\Program Files" - made no difference.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts anyone might have on what the problem
might be or how to fix it. I think it's related to access rights but after
that I'm lost. I don't want to have to give my normal working account Admin
rights just to use the network.
Cheers for any ideas
Steve
