We have a small three computer network. My son was having big problems
with his computer so I reinstalled Windows 98se on his computer.
Everything went fine....except that he can't connect to the internet. I
checked all of his settings and all of his hardware and everything seems
to be configured right. I can't find any errors. He just can't connect.
However, he can see the other computers on the network and they can see
him...and share files. Any ideas?

Sharon

Yes, it was an over-the top install. The problem ended up being with
his virus program I could ping www.google.com, but neither of the
browsers would load pages(This page cannot be displayed message with
IE), nor would his MSN or Yahoo Messemgers connect. The virus program
would also not connect to get the updates. After trying everything else
I finally completely uninstalled his virus program and then the computer
could connect again. I am now reinstalling the Virus program and so far
so good. Apparently come of the virus program files became corrupted
during the reinstallation of Windows.
