We are running a small network at home. Windows 2003 Enterprise Server,
domain server. XP-pro, XP-media and a single Vista client. We are not
able to browse the Microsoft Windows Network.

I just read that networking has changed substantially in Vista. Do those
changes have any impact on the browsing service?

Can someone point me in the right direction for solving this problem?
I've read quite a bit on the web and have not been able to solve this.
(NetBIOS over TCP/IP is installed. The Windows 2003 server is the browse
server all others are clients.)

Server list is not available is the error I get.

Karl,

Could you please verify the IP addresses, subnet mask, and if you are in a
workgroup or a domain. Also, is this a new error or has this never worked?
If you could post your IPCONFIG /ALL from each machine it may be helpful as
well.

Thanks!
Greg

Did you set the network in Vista to a Home network or Business during the
first run after?

Thank you for the replies. In the interest of closing this thread, it seems
that the Win 2003 R2 computer was not singlehomed as I was told it was. Once
the two network cards were bridged by the hardware guys, then browsing
started working flawlessly. FYI: The way I was able to discover this was by
shutting down all the computers and then bringing up one at a time (after 2
were up, of course). We brought the server up last, and that when we had
problems.
