can't add users to the local admin group

I have a server 2003 Small business edition as a domain controller.
I can add the XP workstation to the domain, but after that I'm unable
to add any further users to the local admin group.
In the 'select users' popup I see only the local workstation.
When I try domain\user I get an error.
I can see the domain controller and the shares on it, and the rest of
the workstations on the network.
Any idea?

To add domain\user, go to Local users and Groups>Groups>Administrators.
Double click on it and click Locations. Can you see the domain?

No I can't see the domain, there is only local PC listed.

You've got a configuration problem - probably DNS isn't set up right. Note
that with SBS you really must set it up using all its wizards & the to do
list or you'll have myriad problems.

A few things:

Make sure that your server & all workstations specify *only* the SBS
server's LAN IP for DNS. No public IPs should be visible if you do an
ipconfig /all. Your DNS server should be configured with forwarders to your
ISP's DNS servers (or whomever you choose) or rely on root hints.

Join all workstations to your SBS domain using the /connectcomputer wizard -
do not do it manually

Post in microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs for all SBS questions, as it
does many things its own way. Following advice given in non-SBS groups can
often cause problems.
