I've been having this problem ever since i upgraded my
main machine from 98 to XP. My second computer can't
connect to my printer. I have it shared on the XP machine
AND i have the 98 drivers on my second machine. But, when
i try to install it it will either 1) Not install or 2)
Appear to install, but then it can't communicate with the
printer.

Sounds like Microsoft to me.

What's the share name of the printer? If it's too long, contains spaces or
other unusual characters, Windows 98 won't see it. Try making the share
name something short and simple.

How, exactly, are you trying to "install" it on the Windows 98 computer?

I've tried a couple of different ways, first right
clicking on the printer and selecting install, then
running a search and finding it and selecting to install
it. Can't think of the other one's right now.

Quite frankly i don't think there is a solution. It's
just Microsoft, where you do everything and it should
work... but it doesn't.

I'm a little confused because none of the processes you describe are
appropriate for installing a network printer. Is there a reason you aren't
using the Add Printer wizard to install your networked printer?
