Hi, We have a mix of Windows 2000 and Windows 98 clients
here. When I try to access a Windows 2000 machine from
Windows 98 It asks for a password //computername/IPC$ I
put in the password for the computer named but the
response is that the password is invalid. We are in a
workgroup not a domain; so starting the netlogin service
doesn't help. What is the magic answer?

nevermind
>I added the windows 98 user name to the user list in the

W2K machine and it worked fine. Would of worked a lot
sooner if I hadn't assumed I knew the user name that was
being used on the W98 machine. thanks, joanne
