Hello. A while ago, my other computer was attacked with
some sort of virus. I've scanned the computer with Norton
Antivirus and fixed whatever needed fixing.
Since then, I can ping servers over the Internet
connection but can't access any websites. Does anyone
have any suggestions as to how to restore the socket to
Internet sites?
Thanks.

Uninstall Norton - and get a replacement AV
Then try using the LSPfix -

run the LSPFix from here

how are you pinging - by name or by IP?
Have you checked for a HOSTS file??

try a tracert rather than a ping - what responses do you get? - have you
checked your firewall??

Do a Search on your PC for files named HOSTS (no extension!) - if you find
any, rename to HOSTS.JNK, reboot and see if that makes any difference

you can ignore the HOSTS.SAM file - it's purely a demo.
