I recently installed the Microsoft Wireless-G Notebook
kit on my desktop and laptop. I can access the files in
the laptop by using the desktop, but when I try to access
my desktop's SHARED folders from the laptop it says I do
not have permission. I have gone through and enabled
file sharing and set permissions to "everyone" on the
desktop, but this still does not work. They are both on
the same workgroup. I can see the links to my shared
folders, but it won't let me open them. Any advice?

It might have to do with the Firewall on your desktop.

If you disable that, try to access from your laptop again
(ensuring of course that both pcs are still on the same
workgroup)

However, I would advise you to contact MS broadband
Support re. the firewall, if this solves the problem, as
I would assume that the firewall should only protect
against unauthorized access from the internet and not
from within your network (did you try to access it from
Windows Explorer, My Network Places, <Your Workgroup
Name>?

I am having the same difficulty, except that my firewall
is disabled as per the instructions during install. My
desktop can access my laptop, but not vice versa. The
laptop can connect to the internet, can "see" my desktop,
and even has printer access via the desktop. But cannot
access any of shared folders/files I have set through the
desktop. All I receive is the access error and to
contact my administrator... and I just don't know.
