Hi everybody!

In my network I've got a server running Windows 2000 Server SP4. It is part
of a Windows Domain, Domian Controller is running Windows Server 2003 SP2.
Now we got a new server which is connected via VPN. This server is running
Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. It is *not* part of our domain.

When I try to connect from my W2K server to a shared folder on the new
server I'm getting the error "The network path was not found."

I can connect to the shared folder from my Domain Controller as well as from
my Windows XP Clients. I also can ping the server from the W2K machine.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

TIA

Greetings from Austria
Thomas

Since this is the VPN environment, it could be the name resolution issue.
Can you ping the windows 2003 by IP address?

A ping works. I've already tried connecting in the form \\192.168.x.y\Share
but this doesn't work either.

Hi Robert!

Sorry that I didn't respond earlier; I've been away from my machines for a
while.

The problem had nothing to do with the OS. It was simply a misconfigured
firewall which is out of our influence. :-(
