Cannot send mail to POP3 Server

This is probably not the correct newsgroup but I will explain my problem and
ask if someone can point me to the right server and group. None of the
msnnews.msn.com news groups that are mail oriented are active.

I had a mixed wired and wireless network that was working fine using a cable
modem for Intranet connectivity. I switched from Cable to DSL because it
was half the price. My network is now wireless only and works well with one
exception. I cannot connect to my MSN POP3 server to send mail. Mail is
downloaded OK and the various folders are synchronized correctly. When I
try and send mail I get the error "The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'MSN Mail', Server: 'smtp.email.msn.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

I have rebooted, changed security settings, and reset the server connections
but still get the same error. Microsoft Knowledgebase says that the error
is because the servers are not on. Yet I can connect to the server from
another location or by using dialup.

Any suggestions?

Bill-R

I forgot to mention that I am using Outlook Express. I checked and there is
a newsgroup so I am going to post my question on Outlookexpress.general.

Bill

Do you can receive email?

If you answer is "yes" ->Go to your Account Properties->Servers Tab and
check the option "My server required authentication" locate at bottom page.
If it´s fail, try to enter your username and password at the Configuration
Button.
If its "no". try to check the SMTP and POP Servers are the correct into
the MSN Mail Web Page. Or use Microsoft Outlook.

FYI: Some POP´s Servers required your username & password to receive mail,
is needed to send mails too.

Regards,

Alejandro Segura

Alejandro,

Thank you, but I have done all that, in fact, when the original
configuration did not work, I deleted the original and re-entered. Still no
luck. The Pre-DSL configuration on the Cable modem worked to send and
receive. It is only after the change to DSL that send does not work, all
else works.

Bill,
Were you able to resolve this issue? I am having almost the exact issue. I
did not switch providers or anything, but with the one I am using, I cannot
send email. I can receive, but not send and I have tried all the various
setting changes that were suggested to you.
