I am having an interesting problem. I have a development server at
the office with a share that has permissions only for certain users.
I have opened up the firewall on the server and on my home Vista
machine to allow file sharing. I can connect to the share (or server
by using \\<ip>\c$) and login, however I cannot see any of the
directory contents.

I had a co-worker test this at home with his WinXP box and it works
just fine. I am completely baffled and do not know where to turn
next. I have looked at various articles but have no answers.

FYI, file sharing within the office and file sharing within my home
network are fine without any problems.

Just wanted to add some notes to this while I've been trying to figure
it out:
- Can ping and nslookup to the server with no problems
- Disabled all firewalls, still nothing
- Co-worker can also access using a Vista box from his house, but he
has two boxes and the other one has the same problem I do (weird)
- Tried using some command line "netsh" "autotuning" that I saw on a
post here somewhere but that did not work
- Tried using Virtual PC with Windows XP to map the share and I had
the same issue

I'm at a loss here and cannot figure out what to do next. Note that I
can "map" the share, but the directory contents come up empty. Also,
I tried mapping using several different admin accounts and they all
turn up the same thing.

Any ideas?

If you map a drive to the remote share, can you then list the contents at
the command prompt?
