Problem,
Win 2000 Server as Domain Controller, Running DNS. Have a two 2003
servers online and cannot see them when attempting to browse to them
in Network neighborhood. From the command prompt can ping using IP
address but when attempting a FQDN connect either through CMD PROMPT
or run command "\\servername" indicates "the netowrk path is not
found" have researched adding LMHOST file and changing registry
setting to include browser\parameters 'MaintainServerList' and
'IsDomainMaster' neither makes any change. It seems that the server
has a switch that says it is hidden.
(but 'net config hidden:no" does not work. Any ideas....

Hi,

Browsing is dependent on Netbios name resolution. I would suggest setting
up WINS on the Primary DC and then pointing itself and the other server to
it for WINS.

LMhosts files can be used, but they need to be setup with 1b record entry
for the Primary DC emulator on each machine (or at least on the segment
master browser). You can follow 314108.KB.EN-US How to Write an LMHOSTS
File for Domain Validation and Other Name -
http://support.microsoft.com/default...B;EN-US;314108

Thank you,
