I am running a WinXP pro (sp1) - Win98se network. The xp is on laptop and is
wireless (dlink g650 card and system router of dlink di624).
The network is running well. The problem is that I unshared several files
and, while many disappeared from the Network section, several of the files
remain there. The files do not show sharing properties. I have rebooted
several times, added and removed this privelage, to no avail. When I select
these files (they show up on either computer) I receive error message that
file is not available on that computer. The computer or sharename could
not be found. Make sure you typed it correctly and try again.
I would appreciate assistance I can get. Thanks!!

To remove any unshared folders from My Network Places on the WinXP
computer, right-click and delete them.

If they appear in Network Neighborhood on Win98SE when you click the
computer, they must still be shared.

I appreciate the advice. Unfortunately, when I attempt to delete the shared
files on the Win98se Network Neighborhood, I am unable. I right-click on a
file (in order to delete) and the delete option never comes up in the grey
pop up box. I click on the delete button at the top of the page (when file is
selected), but it accomplishes nothing. I'd appreciate any other input anyone
might have.

My "right-click and delete" suggestion was for "My Network Places" on
WinXP, not for Win98SE. As you say, there's no way to delete items
from "Network Neighborhood" on Win98SE.
