cannot reach one site!

greets!

so I have had no problems until I noticed thursday my mail wasn't being
popped off the server.

then I realized I couldn't reach that server by webpage or by ssh either -
they all time out.

no problems elsewhere. and the damnedest thing is that is where I host my
webpages.

the hosting firm reports no issues. the Time-Warner guy had me disconnect
the router and dhcp through - everything worked fine!

is this not unusual, that only one site (it involves about 2 or three
ip's), gets broken while everything else goes through?

I am about to try a new router out just to see what happens. the old one
is netgear wifi (note: the wifi wasn't involved); it's about 1 yr going on
2 yrs old.

What makes you think it isn't a firewall problem?

nothing. I haven't ruled that out but since you are the 2nd person to
mention it (the hosting tech for my website supposed it also),

I do have to mention that new router functioned immediately in this
regard, even without setup. got me onto the site via ssh, http, whatever I
pleased. same firewall settings up and no problem.

still I will look more carefully. I'd rather stick with the old netgear
wifi anyway. I will hook it back up and have another look.

I just went through that with my hosting server - mail, web
pages, everything was invisible. My domain name suddenly did not
exist, at least to my ISP, but the IP address worked. Other sites
(like ninjaproxy.com) could get to my hosting site. Seemed like it
was a DNS issue with my ISP, but, of course, they could not find a
problem. Day later it started working again. A miracle!

I followed the Time-Warner tech's advice and got a new router. it worked
for a day then again, cut off (from the hosting company only). I figured
it wasn't the router and since it was only this hosting co, no point in
sticking with them so I put the old router back on and suffered.

for a day. then, bingo! no problem!

I will know better next time though I may still abandon this firm (this
may not be their fault but I have other reasons).
