I have encountered a problem whereas once I connected to our VPN i
cannot ping the internal network and access other network resources -
i am only able to ping the internal NIC on the VPN server. The VPN
server is running RRAS Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition SP2.

That is the expected behavior. When you create a VPN connection, your
current default route is disabled and replaced by a default route through
the VPN link.

To contact local machines not in the same subnet while the link is up you
will need to add static routes to direct the traffic to the appropriate
router.

Basically i connect to the VPN server through its Public IP address
and then come in on a 192.168.0.X - this is the same subnet as the
internal Network. Should i create routes in the host or client. Please
advise?

Are you able to ping from vpn server to internal network?
If yes then check the enable router check mark in RRAS console.

Anish

I am able to ping the internal NIC on the VPN server, cannot ping out
side of that though. Basically if the internal NIC of the VPN is
192.168.0.6 i can resolve to address, and ping replies to files server
192.168.0.2 do not resolve.
