I have a Win2K3 Server running Exchange 2K3. It's IP address is 192.168.0.4

In order to be brief I won't go into why I have 2 NICs in the server - in
fact I am trying to take the PCI NIC (call it NIC 2) out and just use the
onboard NIC (NIC 1).

NIC2 is set to 192.168.0.4 and NIC1 is disabled. All works well.

If I disable NIC2 and set it to 192.168.0.6 then set NIC1 to 192.168.0.4
then enable it I can ping workstations and the other server in the domain.
But I cannot ping 192.168.0.4 from any workstation nor the other server.

Interesting tidbits:

1. Upon reboot receive event ID 4321 NetBT - the name "My Domian,,,"1d
cannot be registered on the interface with IP 192.168.0.4. The machine with
the address 192.168.0.3 did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.
2. When I do a continuous ping of 192.168.0.4 from a workstation and reboot
the server I get nothing (request timed out) but at the poing in the boot
process the servers says retoring network connection I get a ping - which
then goes away later in the boot process.

Thanks

Sorry about stating the obvious first, but is the firewall enabled on that
interface?

Are these IPs on the same network (using the same subnet?) Windows has problems
with two NICs on the same network.

If that's not it, then have you configured a default GW for only one NIC?
