Cannot Ping Router

I just installed a first instance of 2003 server at a
client site and this machine cannot ping the DSL router
(times out) and get to the internet. There is no problem
pinging internal Windows machines.

If I unplug the cable from the back of the server and
connect it to an XP laptop, I can ping the router easily.
There is thus not a physical problem.

I know that 2003 has a completely new TCP/IP stack and may
be incompatible with older equipment.

Any ideas? This is killing us.

you may want to use pathping to find out where it goes or post the routing
table here.

You're trying the LAN IP of the router, right?

No. What's your config - two NICs? Or is the router plugged into a
hub/switch that the computers & server all connect to? I recommend the
latter - let the router do NAT. Have your server do DHCP.
