Hi ALL !!

I work on a LAN with Linux and windows98 systems.
Internet is accesses thru winproxy running on Win2000 server. The ping
google.com command returns "Unknown Host" from a DOS window and "ping:
unknown host google.com" from Linux. What additional configurations is
needed so that I can ping to external Websites (beyound proxy).
i've enabled IP forwarding on Linux but it does'nt help. I dont know
what is IP masquerading /port forwarding...what do I need to do ...to
just have it working ?????

Pleaseeeee Help
Blessings,
rahul

It appears that your DNS isn't working since you can't resolve google.com to
216.239.57.99.

Find out from your ISP what are the IP addresses of their nameservers, and
enter that information into your MICROS~1 PCs and in /etc/resolv.conf in
Linux, have:

nameserver a.b.c.d
nameserver w.x.y.z

using the IP addresses they gave you.

Please find a newsfeed that respects Netiquette.

Alan, has it ever occurred to you that you waste FAR more bandwidth
whining about sigs than everyone actually uses for them?

and FYI, after having tried most of the commercial news servers that
are available, I will like hell change to make you happy. Most are
worse than newsfeeds.

Actually, "Alan" is killfiled here, so I never see his whining anyway, nor
do I care to.

It's rather humourous to find that although he emphatically stated that he
was going to killfile my posts, he still reads them judging by your
quotation, which is the only way I would have seen his immature diatribes.

Hilarious really.

Everytime I decide I can't stand his nonsense any longer, he goes and
actually answers a question usefully... Delaying my (probably)
inevitable killfiling of him a bit longer. One day he'll wait a day
too long and I'll killfile him too.
