OK here's the problem in DETAIL... I'm trying to network 2
computers in my house - a laptop running Win98SE, and a
desktop running WinXP. I was instructed to add the proper
protocols and enable File/Print sharing (I got to this by
right-clicking on Network Neighborhood, selecting
the "Configuration" tab, and adding a Microsoft IPX/SPX-
compatible protocol and a Microsoft NetBEUI protocol; and
then adding a Service - File and Printer sharing for
Microsoft Networks. Then I changed the Primary Network
Logon from Windows Logon to Client for Microsoft
Networks.) The problem is, when I click "OK", I get an
error message saying "Please Insert the disk
labeled 'Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM,' and then click
OK." However, the laptop NEVER CAME WITH a Windows 98
Second Edition CD-ROM - the laptop arrived with Windows
98SE pre-installed! So I hit "OK" because there's nothing
else I can do. I get error messages saying that the files
rpcltc5.dll, rprpclts5.dll, rpcltc6.dll, rpclts6.dll,
netbeui.vxd, wsipx.vxd, and nwlink.vxd have to be added by
inserting the 'Windows 98 SSE CD-Rom; after restarting,
and every time since that I have started up the laptop, I
get a message saying "Cannot find a device file that may
be needed to run Windows or a Windows application...."
etc... referring to the missing file nwlink.vxd. I have
searched support.microsoft.com and have not yet found an
answer as to how to fix this problem. If ANYONE knows how
to fix this problem or where I can find and possibly
download these files, (and where these files have to go if
I CAN download them), I would appreciate it tremendously.
