cannot enable file sharing on computer

I have a laptop connected wireless through a microsoft
router. The internet sharing works fine, but it will not
allow me to enable file sharing. When I clike on file
and print sharing it brings up a box that says you are
now going to disable file sharing. but the box is not
checked. And every time I go back to it is unchecked. I
cannot figure it out.
