Cannot detect network adapter

Please help I'm desperate.
I was trying to install a wireless NIC into my win98
machine. I then "Removed" the ethernet card from my device
mgr. Now not only is my wireless NIC not working, I have
also "lost" my original adapter. I tried Refreshing the
Device Mgr but still it doesn't detect. I have physically
plugged out the card and re-pluged it in, restarted the
machine and still it doesn't detect. Please help me.

Use Control Panel to uninstall any software associated with both the
wireless card and the ethernet card. Then follow the instructions for
installing the software for the wireless card. The usual procedure is
to install the software then the hardware.
