Hi,
I’m new to this group and very new to networking (still groping). I use a
laptop for
general work and my pc for graphics and photography. I have a wireless
network
installed and use it to connect to internet with dsl modem. Both computers
connect to inet
wirelessly. I am running WinXP home on my pc and WinXP media ctr on the
laptop. My
network is Linksys 54GS with all appropriate connections. My printer
(Epson Stylus Photo
1270) will not work correctly with print server, so I have it wired to my
Pc. I cannot connect
to it from my laptop. I find that I cannot set up my pc on my net because
my originally installed
Intel Pro wireless connection is missing from Network connections (have only
local connection
and wireless for my network). I have both computers set for sharing files
and printers but only
the laptop shows these files under My Network Places, and the laptop cannot
find the pc. How do
I reinstall the Intel network connection on my pc so I can finish setting up
my sys and connect to
my printer from the laptop?

--
Thanks for the help, Tj

Hi
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,
http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html
As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.
Vista File and Printer Sharing-
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/net.../vista_fp.mspx
Basic XP -
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...lesharing.mspx
Advanced XP - http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;304040
Printer Sharing XP -

Windows Native Firewall setting for Sharing XP -

Windows XP patch for Sharing with Vista -

Thanks, Jack
I have visited the websites you offered, but the instructions I tried did
not solve the problem. I am a few steps closer though, I now see shared
files in both "network places", but for that computer only. I also found
that I had different workgroup names on each computer, and fixed that. I
also found on my pc that although Intel(R)pro/100VE is not listed in ntwrk
conn, it does appear as the adapter in local network. I have tried "find
printer" on both comps while tryng to print (in printer screen), but get
"directory unavailable". Still can't find pc from ntbk nor print from ntbk.
