My son MCSE certified and I have been trying to get a
Gateway 400 Mhz connected to the other computers we have.
The computer runs ME now and did run 98. It will not see
the other machines nor will they see it. The network card
seems to fine. Have run the wizard several times. I am
connecting to the others thru a router. All settings look
correct but in properties for TCP-IP adapter, on the
NETBios tab shows the check box grayed out. What can I do?

Thanks Jim

I have run into a similar problem with a COMPAQ running
ME and two Dells running XPH. Try clicking on the
Properties under Lan Connections, and then Add IPX/SPX
Netbios compatable protocol the XP machines. On the ME
machine do the same thing, but ADD the NetBEUI protocol.

That got my ME machine to read the other two, and it can
now network for printing and file sharing, but it sill
won't access the internet, nor do the two XP machines
recognise the existence of the ME machine on the lan.
