You should be able to use an analogue modem on the phone line with ADSL on
it.
Some microfilters are better than others. It may be that yours is not very
good.
If that's not the cause then it may be necessary to get BT to check the
line.
Another alternative is for your other half to ask at work whether there is
scope to use a VPN connection instead of dialling in. This will save the
company money and should allow for her to enjoy a better connection.
