I can get to the internet but when I try to connect to my company's
VPN (they use NORTEL) I get the following error:

Login failed. Please consult the switch log for further information.

My wife is on her company's VPN (they use Cisco).

It works when I try it wired. but since the wireless router is in a
cabinet upstairs I would rather use the wireless. Is there something
that I can change in my router settings? Is there something that I can
suggest to my IT department?

What's in the log files at the VPN server and at your router? Is
VPN-passthrough enabled on the router? Does it support NAT traversal
(NAT-T)?
