Hello pals,

I 've just installed 2003 server. After installation, asked to Managing
Your Server Roles.
I configured and view

File server No
Print server No
Application server No
Mail Server No
Terminal Server No
Remote Access/VPN server YES
Domain Controller YES
DNS server YES
DHCP Server NO
Streaming Media Server NO
WINS server No

I've given my computer name as MONTEX
domain name tom.bn
domain controller tom.bn.local

i've created ADSI users also.

I've many clients(15) in my network. Mostly XP professional.
I've router and DHCP enabled. And in the server i assigned static IP and
clients are running in DHCP. I cannot join my client to a domain(tom.bn).
When i try to join a client to domain, its not accepting. Domain cannot be
contacted. But i can able to access internet. When i PING to server, its OK.

And i can connect other computers(XP only). Cannot connect to server.

What could be the problem. I am new to 2003 server.

thanx in advance.

make sure the server points to itself for DNS, then setup forwarders to your
isp's dns servers. Make sure the clients only point to the server for DNS.

hello,

Thanx for the reply. Can u please guide me where to set and how to set the
settings?
I've one printer shared and connected to XP system. From any other XP
system, i can print to that printer. From winme or win prof(clients) cannot
connect and print. Eventhough XP systems also not connected the server but
can communicate each other(only XP systems)

Only one XP system can communicate to server...
If i give \\servername
its asking username and password.
Then its connecting.

can u pls guide me what to set?

thank you
