Cannot browse network... suddenly

We have a small network with about 10 W98 clients and one
XP client sharing 3 printers. Everything was working fine
until about 2 weeks ago when we started noticing that we
could no longer browse the network but could still share
the printers.

We are now down to sharing one printer. I went over the
network with a fine tooth comb, checking that all the IP
addresses (all dynamic) and network shares were correctly
set up. I scanned all systems for viruses and other
malware, nothing was found. All hubs, switches and cables
test okay. I reinstalled the OS on the machine that hosts
the printer we most need to use (not the one that we can
still use), but there is still no joy.

If this was problematic from the outset, then I would say
that the error originates between the keyboard and the
seat, but this is not the case. Everything has been
working fine for years.

Any ideas? Hopefully someone has run into the same problem
and found out the issue and a fix, but I might be hoping
too hard here.

TIA
