hello,

This is on a Windows 2003 domain/LAN.
I have a file server (called ie FileServerName).
the server is listed in the domain DNS (fileservername.ourdomain.com)

i want users to access the fileserver on a separate dedicated FQDN.
so I have created ie ourfileserver.ourdomain.com and put it in the DNS.

the problem:
- i can browse to the NetBios name (ie \\FileServerName)
- i can browse to the IP (ie \\123.456.789.123)
- i can browse to the FDQN of the server name (ie
\\fileservername.ourdomain.com)
- i can nslookup & ping the dedicated FQDN (ourfileserver.ourdomain.com)
- however I cannot browse to that FQDN (\\ourfileserver.ourdomain.com),

any ideas why? and how to get this working?

many thanks

christos
